Happy Hallowe’en! Or, Happy Reformation Day! In any case, another month is coming to a close and we draw even closer to gathering in Salt Lake City for the 69th Triennial Conclave. I hope many of you will plan to attend and participate in the work we are called to accomplish for the good of our Order.
Last weekend was the final Department Conference of the fall cycle. We had a great turnout in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, even if there was a heavy dumping of October snow all around us. The conversations were lively and the fellowship superb. The presentations were very good, and we had a wonderful former starter grant recipient, Dr. Megan Collins, from none other than Johns Hopkins University/Wilmer Eye Institute on hand to speak about her research and how it has resulted in states and school districts across the USA picking up the model she created in Baltimore as a new focus point for early, regular vision screening of students, especially in urban school districts. Getting students vision checked and glasses in their hands quickly does make a positive impact on learning and test scores. Check out her video on the KTEF videos page.
I have a lot of thoughts running through my head this week, but I truly want to take time to sort them out. So, this week’s message isn’t going to be long or, probably, as thought-provoking as usual. However, check in next week for a new message and something to ponder!
